Services

Borrowing and returning of books should be done only during the service hours (Monday to Thursday / 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Procedure for borrowing a book is as follows:

• The client must fill out the book card/information card (Appendix 9) that can be found at the back of the book.

• The client will then proceed to the Loan desk and present the Library ID and Borrower’s card.

• The staff will then check if all the information is correct. Once all information is validated, he/she will write the date when the book will be returned on the date due slip, the book card/information card, and the Borrower’s card. The staff needs to countersign or put his/her initials on the dates stamped in for security.

• The staff will then file the Borrower’s card and the book card/information card together until the book is returned.

Procedure for returning a book is as follows:

• The client must proceed to the Loan desk and present the Library ID and the book to be returned.

• The staff will then check the book for any damage and the due date of the book.

• If the book is returned on or before the due date, the staff will write on the date due slip, the book card/information card, and the borrower’s card the actual date that the book was returned. He/she should also countersign them for security.

• If the book is returned after its due date, the staff will confiscate the Library ID of the borrower. The staff will write on the date due slip, the information card, and the borrower’s card the actual date that the book was returned and then countersigns them.

Delinquent Library Users

• Library users who do not return the books on time will be considered as delinquent library users. Their Library ID will be confiscated and they will not be able to use the facility depending of the number of overdue days. Below is the prescribed schedule of penalty:

Library staff will contact delinquent users by phone. Library users who do not return the books after a month will be followed up through a home visit and will ask them to return the books immediately.
